David Shipley helps build and execute strategies designed to reduce cost, improve productivity, boost revenue and protect technology assets and information. He is in equal parts an innovator and tinkerer, a storyteller and a diplomat, a negotiator and a leader.
As the Director of Strategic Initiatives within Information Technology Services at the University of New Brunswick, David is responsible for finding creative solutions to complex organizational technology problems, turning these challenges into sources of competitive advantage.
Over the past six years, David has helped UNB become a leader in the innovative use of web, mobile and information security technologies. David was the top part-time student graduate from UNB Fredericton’s Master of Business Administration program in 2015 and also has a Bachelor of Arts in Information and Communications Studies from UNB. David has spoken across North America at global, national and regional technology conferences around cybersecurity, web and mobile technology projects. He is a former business and politics reporter for the New Brunswick Telegraph-Journal and veteran of the Canadian Forces.
David has been active in several volunteer roles, including serving as a member of the local service distract (LSD) advisory committee for Rusagonis-Waasis, NB and is the co-chair of the CNIB annual Dining in the Dark fundraiser in Fredericton.
Born in British Columbia, David was raised in Saint John and Rothesay, New Brunswick and has lived in Moncton and Fredericton.
