The board of 21inc. is happy to announce Vanessa Paesani as its new executive director. Vanessa is a member of the 21inc network (2012/13 New Brunswick tour) and since August 2015 has been our acting program director. She brings to 21inc. experience in building sustainable non-profits from her previous work as executive director of The Gaia Project, a green energy experiential learning program for high school students.
“I and the rest of the board have enjoyed working with Vanessa over the past few months and are excited to support her as she rolls out her vision for 21inc. as we enter our second decade,” said board chairperson Lisa Hrabluk. “Her vision for 21inc. includes a plan to engage more directly with our 250+ network of high-performing Atlantic Canadians and to build on 21inc’s two flagship programs – the 21 Leaders provincial tours and the Top 50 Under 40 Summit – to help develop our region’s next generation of collaborative leaders.”
To begin, 21inc. is introducing two new initiatives this January. The first is the creation of the Inclusion, Equity and Safer Places Standing Committee with the goal to achieve a standard-setting culture of inclusivity and equity so all who are a part of the 21inc community and all who encounter it experience a safe, welcoming, dynamic and supportive environment.
The second is the creation of a 21inc Network Council, composed of Network Ambassadors. These Network Ambassadors will be volunteer, representative members of the 21inc network in the cities and towns throughout the region where 21inc members live. Network Ambassadors will help drive local conversations - we’ll be posting more information towards the end of January.
About the organization, Vanessa Paesani said, “21inc has been an organization that has both supported me, and challenged me to grow. I’ve had the opportunity to meet so many uniquely talented and driven people, and be a part of optimism for Atlantic Canada. 21inc is part of that optimism – a region-wide network of like-minded, driven people from across all sectors. Our goal over the next year is to engage our network in conversations and events that will help drive the future of the organization. We will also be working to identify a pipeline of future leaders, and planning robust and meaningful programs that will be part of a larger, national conversation on youth leadership. I feel so honoured to be part of this work, along with our board of directors, network and those invested in our region”.
21inc. is founded on a very simple premise: it is time for a new generation to lead. Born our of the Next NB public outreach program in 2004, 21inc. is a non-profit that offers an advanced leadership experience for people between the ages of 20 and 40 has spread to encompass all four Atlantic provinces. Today, 21inc.’s growing network regularly draws upon the intergenerational and multi-sector network to start companies, embed innovation, improve organizational processes, and join a supportive community of intergenerational leaders.
