Researcher from PEI
Prince Edward Island
Shawn Loo, a farmer and researcher from PEI, is currently finding his place in Atlantic Canada again after living in Alberta and British Columbia for the past 5 years. Raised on a certified organic farm, Shawn has always had a strong interest in studying and promoting sustainable food production. He studied environmental science at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College (now Dalhousie Faculty of Agriculture), and currently researches the effects of agricultural activities on groundwater as a PhD candidate at the University of Calgary. Shawn has been an active student and community leader - taking on a number of roles from student government and organizing student activities to being a member and director with the Calgary Men’s Chorus. Shawn is currently working on a web-based project called WaterAct PEI, which presents water data to inform and engage PEI residents in discussions around the upcoming PEI water act.
