General Manager, Eyeread
Halifax, Nova Scotia
Emily is a part of the inaugural Venture for Canada fellowship class. The fellowship is a competitive program which selects top graduates from across Canada and provides two years of mentorship and entrepreneurial training. Emily also works as the General Manager of Eyeread, a Halifax startup that is revolutionizing how children learn to read by using Artificial Intelligence on ebooks.
Emily’s motto “think globally, act locally” reflects her passion for development sparked by a trip to Udaipur, India at age 16. Her studies and internships have taken her to China, back to India and to New York City, where she interned with The Clinton Foundation in the Clinton Global Initiative International office. She hopes to harness these global experiences to create social good in Atlantic Canada.
Emily is a 2014 graduate of St Francis Xavier University, where she double majored in Development Studies and Political Science. At St.FX Emily served as Vice President of Communications for the Students’ Union, participated in the Harvard Model UN conference and hosted Milltertime, a weekly radio show.
