Administrative Director of 4-H on PEI, Emily Brown is passionate about cultivating leaders for rural communities. 4-H members and volunteer mentors (known as leaders) work together at the grassroots level to develop tangible and locally relevant skills, foster confidence and communication ability, and develop a sense of responsibility and pride in community and country.
Emily is inspired by the hardworking food producers and entrepreneurs on PEI. Wanting the share their stories of resilience and creativity, she has been involved in the development and hosting of three unique Meet, Eat, And Learn (M.E.A.L.) events in Charlottetown, celebrating agriculture and food culture on PEI.
Emily is involved in a number of community groups, including SquashPEI and Farmers Helping Farmers. She believes that while sometimes active problem solving and risk taking can result in minor failures, that learning to do by doing is what makes a community vibrant, adaptable and resilient.
