Jury has begun the process of selecting 50 candidates for the Emerging Leaders' Summit

The Round Tables came to an end last week, and now 21inc has all the information its jurors need to choose the 50 young people who will take part in the Emerging Leaders' Summit. The jury will meet this Thursday, August 29, to discuss the applications and make their choices from among the candidates.

The jury consists of representatives of 21inc and its partner, Knightsbridge Robertson Surrette, as well as ten influential Atlantic Canadians from the world of business and training. "We're so lucky to have these people who live and breathe leadership on an everyday basis, and who truly understand its importance to innovative development," explained Nadine Duguay, the Executive Director of 21inc.

The selection will be based, in part, on the candidates' previous experience as well as the skills they demonstrated during the Round Tables held over the past few weeks. The three main evaluation criteria will be:
• demonstrated leadership ability in their previous or current work,
• identification of professional goals on which their participation in the Summit will have a
positive impact, and
• community involvement which shows a sense of social responsibility.

During the Round Tables, candidates were also asked to demonstrate the authenticity of their current leadership work. Authentic leadership, which is a relatively new concept, encourages leaders to inspire rather than to manage. This philosophy will guide the approach of the Emerging Leaders' Summit, which will take place in October.

The list of the 50 successful candidates will be released on September 16, 2013. "We're really excited to find out who's on the list! The Summit is an important event; it brings people together and creates connections that will benefit participants for a long time," concluded Nadine Duguay.
